In Kazakhstan, 72.5% of grain crop area has been harvested, with a total of 16.2 million tonnes of grain threshed. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

These figures were announced at an emergency staff meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin.

Sown areas and harvesting progress

According to Vice Minister of Agriculture Nazgul Khatepova, the total sown area in the country this year is 24.2 million hectares. Of this, 15.6 million hectares are sown with grain and leguminous crops.

"To date, 11.3 million hectares have been harvested. The average yield was 14.2 centners per hectare," the vice minister said.

Oilseeds and vegetable products

In addition, oilseeds have been harvested from 1.5 million hectares. The average yield was 9.7 centners per hectare, with 1.4 million tonnes of oilseed seeds threshed.

This year, 2.7 million tonnes of vegetables, 1.9 million tonnes of melons and gourds, and 1.9 million tonnes of potatoes have been harvested.

Financial support

Overall, the harvesting pace is at the same level as last year. Necessary financial support was provided to farmers for conducting spring field work and the harvesting campaign.

Under the concessional lending program, 5,800 agricultural producers were financed for a total of 664.4 billion tenge.
