The Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan reminds that enrollment for first grade is ongoing in all public schools, including 'Keleshek mektepteri'. The enrollment period started on different dates in different regions, but everywhere it will last until August 31, 2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Applications can be submitted via the national educational platform OQU (oqu.edu.kz), the e-government portal eGov, or in paper form by directly contacting the educational institution.

When enrolling in 'Keleshek mektepteri', children living in the school's service area have priority. Parents (legal representatives) can apply to any public educational institution if there are available places.

To submit an application, the legal representative must have permanent registration at the place of residence. The residential address is confirmed through state information systems.

The following documents are required for enrollment in first grade:

Students who have completed preschool training (grade 0) are admitted to first grade based on an application from parents or legal representatives.

May 27 – August 31: Astana city, Abai, Zhetysu, Kyzylorda, and West Kazakhstan regions.

June 10 – August 31: Almaty city, Akmola, Aktobe, Zhambyl, and East Kazakhstan regions.

June 18 – August 31: Shymkent city, Almaty, Kostanay, Pavlodar, and Atyrau regions.

June 29 – August 31: Turkestan, Mangystau, Karaganda, North Kazakhstan, and Ulytau regions.

Parents are asked to submit documents in advance, not missing the deadlines.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that this year Kazakhstan changed the enrollment deadlines for first grade due to the workload on schools.

Usually, enrollment for first grade started on April 1, but this year the date was moved to May 27 and extended until August 31. This was announced by Minister of Education Zholdas Suleimenova on her Facebook page.

According to her, during this period, directors, teachers, and IT specialists are most busy with the educational process, and admitting first-graders creates additional workload and may lead to delays.

Since September 2025, new standard rules for school enrollment approved by the minister's order have been in effect in Kazakhstan. Now enrollment is carried out based on the director's order, and it is prohibited to form classes based on the level of preparation or development of students.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazakhstani schoolchildren can now anonymously complain about bullying via Kundelik.
