Kazakhstan is increasing re-export of sophisticated equipment. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This is facilitated by the country's favorable geographical location, developed logistics infrastructure, peculiarities of customs regulation within the EAEU, and the efficiency of international transport corridors passing through Kazakhstan, writes Energyprom.kz.
According to calculations based on data from the Bureau of National Statistics for 2024–2025, in seven out of eight categories of high-tech products and household appliances, the export-to-import ratio increased. This indicates a growth in re-export volumes through Kazakhstan.
The highest growth was recorded in telephone sets: the export-to-import ratio rose from 8.1% to 26.7% over the year. In radio broadcasting and television equipment, this indicator increased from 18.7% to 23.7%, in monitors and projectors — from 19% to 22%, in computers — from 14.7% to 15.1%, the portal wrote.
In 2025, in many categories, export growth exceeded imports. For example, imports of vacuum cleaners decreased by 42.9%, while exports increased by 54.8%. Imports of telephone sets decreased by 38%, while exports more than doubled. This also indicates an increase in re-export volumes.
China remains the main supplier of high-tech products. In most categories, its share exceeded 50%, reaching 84.9% for computers. Russia's share ranged from 1.6% to 29.7%.
Kazakhstan's re-export of high-tech products is mainly directed to Russia and Central Asian countries. For household appliances, the share of Central Asia ranged from 34.8% to 78.3%, while from 82.6% to 91.4% of exports of computers, telephone sets, and communication equipment were sent to Russia.
Among goods supplied to Russia, the highest growth was observed in the category "machines for receiving, converting, and transmitting data": export volume increased 6.2 times, and value — 3.4 times. Exports of telephone sets in physical terms increased 2.3 times, in monetary terms — by 43.5%.
