Kazakhstan's team took 9th place in the medal standings of the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling, which concluded in Bratislava. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
On the final day of the tournament, freestyle wrestler Nurdaulet Seilbek won a bronze medal in the up to 74 kg category. In the bout for third place, Seilbek defeated Italian Alessio Antonio Perentina – 10:5.
On the way to the bronze match, Nurdaulet defeated Romanian Catalin Spinu – 11:1, Turkish Umut Uslu – 3:1, and lost in the semifinal to Jayden James from the USA – 4:13.
His teammates, freestyle wrestlers Sunkar Seidakhmet (70 kg), Samir Dursunov (97 kg), and Riza Izakhar (125 kg), did not reach the medal bouts.
Kazakhstan was represented in Bratislava by 30 athletes – 20 boys and 10 girls. Our athletes have five medals of various denominations. Gold in the up to 67 kg category was won by Greco-Roman wrestler Kyzybek Kalmagambetov. Silver was added to the team's collection by freestyle wrestler Bekasyl Asambek (61 kg). Bronze went to Uldana Tileukhan (68 kg), as well as freestyle wrestlers Nurassyl Asambek (57 kg) and Nurdaulet Seilbek.
In the medal standings, Kazakhstan shared 9th place with Armenia. The winner was Japan, which overtook the Russians at the finish. Third place went to athletes from the USA.
The world championship under the auspices of the International Wrestling Federation (UWW), held in the capital of Slovakia, was attended by 700 young athletes. They competed for 120 medals in three types of wrestling – Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's.
