The Kazakhstan men's national volleyball team defeated Thailand 3-1 (25:21, 25:23, 22:25, 27:25) in the match for fifth place at the Asian Nations Cup in India. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Sergey Trikoz's team, having finished third in Group A and failed to reach the semifinals, started the final match in Amdavad strongly. In the first sets, the Kazakhs led the score, not allowing the Thais to contend for leadership. After winning two sets (25:21, 25:23), our players slightly loosened their grip, which the opponents immediately took advantage of – 25:22.

In the fourth set, the Kazakh volleyball players, trailing 13:18, managed to equalize at 20:20. And in a fiery finish, after saving three set points, they snatched victory – 27:25.

For Kazakhstan, outside hitter Vladislav Mastikhin was again the best with 19 points. His teammate Azamat Seilkhanov scored 18.

The Asia-Pacific Nations Cup, formerly known as the Challenge Cup, was held for the fifth time. Twelve teams were divided into two groups during the draw, but at the last moment, Turkmenistan withdrew from the tournament.

After a single round-robin tournament, the top two teams from each group advanced to the semifinals. The remaining teams competed for places 5th to 10th.
