Kazakhstan's under-19 football team will play against peers from Belgium, Scotland, and Kosovo in the second qualifying round of the 2027 European Championship. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The draw for the second stage of the U19 Euro 2027 qualifiers has just concluded at UEFA headquarters. Kazakhstan's team was drawn against Belgium, Scotland, and Kosovo in League A of the qualifiers.
During the draw, 28 teams in League A were divided into seven groups. The Czech Republic, as host of the final tournament, participates in the first two qualifying rounds, although its place in the main stage is already guaranteed.
The top three teams from each group will retain their place in League A for the third qualifying stage, the draw for which will take place on December 10, with matches to be held in spring 2027. It is then that the seven teams that will join the Czech Republic in the final tournament next summer will be determined.
In the first qualifying round, recently concluded in Greece, the young Kazakhs finished third. Timur Kasymov's charges drew with Portugal, beat Serbia, and lost to the hosts of the mini-tournament.
The format of the Euro 2027 (U19) qualifying tournament includes a number of innovations compared to the previous one. All teams are divided into Leagues A and B according to past achievements. The Kazakhs made it to the elite League and were in the third pot in today's draw. If not for the unfortunate defeat to the Greeks in Thessaloniki, they could have been in the second or even the first pot.
The venue and dates of the mini-tournament involving our players will be determined later.
