ASTANA, September 7 – Sputnik. Kazakhstan has attracted 2.2 trillion tenge in tourism investments over two years. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In the tourism sector, 328 projects with a total value of about 1.3 trillion tenge are being implemented. This initiative will create about 10,000 permanent jobs and open 25 new hotel complexes that meet international standards.
In 2025, the volume of investments in tourism reached 1.25 trillion tenge, an increase of 32.6% compared to the previous year. Kazakhstan was visited by 15.7 million foreign citizens (of which 11.1 million were registered as tourists), and their total expenditures inside the country amounted to $2.9 billion, the government noted.
Event tourism is considered an additional driver: a calendar of 55 major events for 2026 has been compiled. Domestic tourism is also showing steady growth. The flow of Kazakh citizens traveling within the country increased from 7.1 million people in 2023 to 8.7 million people in 2025, the report said.
In 2026, road repair works covered 11,000 kilometers of highways, including routes to Rakhman Keys, Kenderli, Bayanaul, Zerenda, and Kolsai. New airports are being built in Katon-Karagai, Zaisan, and Kenderli. For the summer season, 45 subsidized air flights per week were organized.
