Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Bendito dos Santos Freitas on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The heads of the foreign policy departments signed a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Prospects for political dialogue and cooperation
The parties discussed the prospects for developing political dialogue and cooperation in the trade-economic, educational, cultural, tourism and agricultural spheres.
The Kazakh side congratulated Timor-Leste on joining ASEAN as its 11th member state and expressed readiness to develop interaction both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of cooperation with the Association.
Interaction within the UN and multilateral platforms
Special attention was paid to interaction within the UN and other multilateral platforms, including on sustainable development and climate change issues.
The parties confirmed their readiness to maintain regular contacts and continue work on developing bilateral relations.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Kazakhstan and Benin agreed to abolish visas for diplomats.
