Kazakhstan's Yasmina Islamova and Aldiyar Ramazanov won silver medals at the junior world championships in artistic swimming, held in Hungary. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The duo finished second in the free routine among mixed pairs. In the final, the Kazakh representatives scored 248.1 points. The winners were Spaniards Arlet Arnan Santacruz and Eneko Sanchez Aguilar with 263.3 points. The bronze medals went to Japanese duo Heizo Aitaka and Manami Dodo – 246.9 points.
For Islamova and Ramazanov, this was their second performance at the current world championships. The previous day, the Kazakh duo took fifth place in the technical routine, receiving 208.4 points from the judges.
Gold in this discipline was won by Russians Alina Rumyantseva and Zakhar Trofimov – 234.1 points. The silver medalists were Spaniards Martina Garcia and Eneko Sanchez Aguilar – 221.7. Third place went to Chinese duo Chen Keyu and Jin Yanxiao – 217.5.
The silver of the mixed duo became the second award for the Kazakhstan team at the tournament in Budapest. The first medal was brought by Viktor Druzin, who took third place in the men's solo technical routine.
The junior (U19) world championships are held in Budapest (Hungary) from August 12 to 16 with the participation of 300 athletes from 35 countries. A total of 11 sets of medals will be awarded. Kazakhstan is represented by 12 athletes.
