Kazakhstan's men's team has reached the World Fencing Championships final for the first time. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The team, consisting of Ruslan Kurbanov, Yerlik Sertai, Kirill Prokhorov, and Vadim Sharlaimov, defeated Egypt 41-32 in the semifinals.
Earlier, they beat Finland (45:39), then Uzbekistan (28:27), and in the quarterfinals defeated Denmark 45:36.
Thus, Kazakhstan's men's team reached the World Championships final, achieving a historic result.
In the final, they will face the winner of the Ukraine-Israel match. It is worth noting that the previous best result was a bronze medal.
Last year, Kazakh fencers defeated world leader France at the World Championships in Georgia, winning a historic bronze. This year's championship is being held in Hong Kong.
