Currently, a congestion of trucks is observed at the 'Kosak' checkpoint (Pavlodar region) on the Kazakhstan-Russia border. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The situation is due to the seasonal increase in the transportation of fruits and vegetables, the Border Service of the National Security Committee reported.

"To minimize waiting time, the checkpoint is operating in an enhanced mode, necessary measures are being taken, and close cooperation with local executive bodies has been organized," the statement said.

The Border Service reminded that the international checkpoints 'Sharbakty' and 'Urlitobe' also operate in Pavlodar region. In the North Kazakhstan region, the checkpoints 'Zhana Zhol', 'Karakoga', and 'Kyzyl Zhar' are functioning.

"In addition, an electronic queue system is in operation, which allows checking the availability of free slots for a specific date and planning the time and place of border crossing in advance. This helps reduce the load on the checkpoint and ensures predictability of the process for carriers," the border guards said.

For example, the average capacity of the 'Kosak' checkpoint in the exit direction is about 200-220 trucks per day. Given the current situation, the Border Service asks to adjust traffic in advance using alternative routes.
