Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 9th China-Eurasia International Expo. During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for further strengthening strategic partnership, implementing joint investment projects, developing transport and logistics infrastructure, and expanding trade and economic cooperation.

Special attention was paid to investment cooperation. Over the years of independence, China has invested about $30 billion in direct foreign investment into Kazakhstan's economy, becoming one of the country's largest investors.

The expo is traditionally one of the key international platforms of the Belt and Road Initiative. It strengthens the status of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region as a major transport, logistics, and trade center in China, connecting the markets of Asia and Europe.
