Kazakhstan's national football team began the new UEFA Nations League campaign with a draw. In the first round of Group C3, the team played away against the Faroe Islands – 1:1. This match was the first for the national team under the leadership of new head coach John van 't Schip. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

First half
The hosts opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Andrias Edmundsson crossed from the left flank into the penalty area, where Aki Samuelsen got ahead of the defenders and sent the ball into our team's goal.
The visitors equalized 11 minutes later. Bauyrzhan Islamkhan took a corner from the right flank, and Temirlan Yerlanov won the aerial battle and headed the ball in to level the score – 1:1.
Second half and statistics
In the second half, the teams did not score again. Kazakhstan held the ball for 58% of the time, but conceded to the opponent in shots – 4:6 and in shots on target – 1:5.

Kazakhstan plays in Group C3 together with the Faroe Islands, Slovakia and Moldova. The team will play its next match on 29 September away against Slovakia. Then on 2 October Kazakhstan will host Moldova.
