Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov announced a reduction in gas production at the Karachaganak field following an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Orenburg gas processing plant. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"We were forced to reduce production at the Karachaganak field from 34,000 tons to 25,000 tons. This means a reduction of 9,000 tons, and our gas intake has now decreased. However, gas supplies to all of Kazakhstan have not been interrupted; we are currently fulfilling all gas supply contracts in full," said the Energy Minister.

Karachaganak produces "dirty gas" containing toxic sulfur. It is then sent to the Orenburg gas processing plant for purification. Russia sends it back, and Kazakhstan supplies the purified commercial gas to consumers.
