Five fires were registered in Kazakhstan's forests in one day. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the country's Ministry of Ecology, on September 28 fire broke out in Kostanay region, Zhetisu region and two national parks — "Kokshetau" and Ile-Alatau.
The hotspots were spotted during patrolling and with the help of early detection systems.
In Kostanay region, two fires were recorded at once, while in the other regions there was one each.
Forest guard employees and special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fires. From the air they were assisted by a "Kazavialesookhrana" helicopter with a water-dropping device.
"All necessary measures have been taken to prevent the further spread of the fire, the situation is under constant control," the agency said.
Earlier, "Kursiv" reported how in Zhetisu region firefighters had to extinguish burning reeds from the air. The swampy terrain did not allow equipment to reach the hotspots, so a helicopter had to be used.
