Kazakh Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov met with Singapore's Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In 2025, bilateral trade volume approached $1 billion, and in the first six months of 2026, trade turnover reached $777 million. This is 2.5 times higher compared to the same period in 2025.

In 2025, the total inflow of foreign direct investment from Singapore doubled, reaching approximately $1.5 billion.

Lee Hsien Loong's remarks

"Our governments are in good relations and are striving to build a partnership that will allow businesses to implement even more joint projects. The volume of investments in the economies of the two countries is growing, and trade indicators between our states are increasing. This creates a basis for further growth in trade volume. We see changes and opportunities for growth in Kazakhstan. We have great potential for further development of our relations," Lee Hsien Loong noted.

Signed documents

Following the meeting, a number of documents were signed. They include:

  • 01An agreement between the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise on the capacity-building program "Leadership in Sustainable Management of Urban Water Resources and Waste";
  • 02A memorandum of understanding and cooperation between Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise in the areas of multimodal transportation, trade facilitation, and digitalization.

"The agreements provide for the exchange of Singapore's experience, improving the qualifications of Kazakh specialists, and introducing modern approaches to managing water resources, transport and trade ecosystems, including unlocking the potential of the Middle Corridor," the government said.
