At the Alimbet automobile checkpoint in Aktobe region, representatives of transport and border agencies of Kazakhstan and Russia met. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The parties discussed issues of developing transport links between Kazakhstan and Russia, increasing the capacity of crossing the state border, and improving border infrastructure. At the meeting, "issues of reducing traffic congestion on certain sections of the Kazakhstan-Russia state border and ensuring unhindered passage of vehicles were discussed."
The parties also considered pressing issues of increasing the capacity of checkpoints and improving procedures for crossing the state border. Special attention was paid to the integration of information systems and digitalization of transport procedures.
In total, it is planned to modernize 30 automobile checkpoints on the state border of Kazakhstan. Currently, construction and installation works are underway at three of them: "Alimbet - Orsk", "Syrym - Mashtakovo", and "Kosak - Pavlovka".
The works are planned to be completed by the end of this year. Completion of works at the remaining checkpoints is planned for 2027.
