Ecologists from Kazakhstan and Russia discussed the preservation of the Irtysh River ecosystem at the 22nd Forum of Interregional Cooperation between the two countries. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan, during a thematic session on preserving the Irtysh River ecosystem, participants discussed issues of rational use and protection of transboundary water resources, as well as directions for further development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia in this area.
Vice Minister Mansur Oshurbaev noted that effective interaction between Kazakhstan and Russia on the use and protection of transboundary water facilities has been established, and emphasized the importance of joint work on preserving the Irtysh River ecosystem.
Following the event, the parties confirmed mutual interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation in environmental protection and sustainable water resource use, as well as in implementing joint initiatives.
