Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alexey Borodavkin announced at a reception for Russia Day that, despite sanctions, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia will exceed $30 billion in 2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to him, Kazakhstan is Russia's fifth most important trading partner. Russian businesses have invested about $60 billion in Kazakhstan's economy, and the two countries have 177 projects valued at $53 billion.
Borodavkin also highlighted other areas of bilateral cooperation, including the successful launch of the Soyuz/Sunkar rocket, construction of the first nuclear power plant, energy transit through Russia and Kazakhstan, and the launch of unmanned cargo transportation. He said the countries are also strengthening military ties, including within the CSTO.
Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev congratulated Russian diplomats and the fraternal people on Russia Day.
