Kazakhstan and China will implement a pilot project for autonomous driverless freight transportation along an international transport route. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Road Research Institute JSC and China TransInfo Group signed an agreement to establish a Joint Competence Center in the field of intelligent transport systems and autonomous transport technologies.

The center will develop cooperation in intelligent transport systems, autonomous driving and digitalization of road infrastructure.

One of the key areas of cooperation is the implementation of a pilot project for autonomous freight transportation along the China – Kazakhstan international transport route.

In addition, automated control systems for weight and dimensional parameters of vehicles will be introduced. These include the introduction of weigh-in-motion technology, the creation of a testing ground for autonomous vehicles and the integration of industry information systems, the ministry says.
