Kazakhstan and China are considering mutual recognition of driving licenses. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the draft resolution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, the agreement will apply only to passenger cars. The document will allow exchanging driving licenses without retraining and re-taking exams, in accordance with the legislative requirements of the country where the exchange is carried out.
The draft resolution has been submitted for public discussion on the "Open NLA" portal until August 30. Currently, Kazakh drivers need to obtain a temporary driving license to drive in China, as well as translate its text and have it notarized.
Recall that the agreement on recognition of driving licenses between Kazakhstan and the UAE entered into force on July 25, 2026.
