Kazakhstan and China are working on opening a joint college to train specialists for the water sector. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This was stated during a meeting between the head of the department, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, and a delegation from the People's Republic of China. The delegation was led by Cheng Ming, rector of the Three Gorges Vocational College of Electric Power.
The meeting discussed the opening of a joint training center based at the Kazakh Research Institute of Water Management in Taraz, as well as a joint training college based at the Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation, which would provide a full cycle of training for qualified specialists.
The issue of attracting teachers from China was also discussed. "Considering that the Three Gorges College is one of China's leading educational institutions for training personnel for the water sector, we believe the potential for cooperation in this area is very high. I am confident that the projects to open a joint training center and a training college in Taraz will give a new impetus to the personnel training system," said Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
Additionally, the parties discussed the possibility of developing a program to improve the qualifications of Kazakh water sector specialists in China. Following the meeting, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Three Gorges Vocational College of Electric Power agreed to create a special working group to thoroughly work out all joint initiatives.
