Negotiations between the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on expanding cooperation in air transportation took place in Beijing. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The parties agreed to increase the number of regular passenger flights for carriers of both countries from 124 to 152 per week. The list of major Chinese cities for flights to Kazakhstan has been expanded to 11, including Chongqing, one of China's largest transport, logistics and industrial centers.
The parties also discussed opening direct air service between Astana and Shanghai, including by Chinese airlines, as well as launching a third international air corridor between the countries.
"This will increase the capacity of airspace, optimize flight routes, reduce the load on existing airways and create additional conditions for further growth of air traffic between the two states," the Civil Aviation Committee reported.
The negotiations also considered issues of allocating slots at Chinese airports for Kazakh carriers, using Chinese airspace, and concluding an agreement on cooperation in the field of aviation search and rescue of aircraft.
The parties confirmed mutual interest in further development of air traffic and strengthening strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China.
Meanwhile, AJet airline will increase the number of flights to Turkey on two routes.
