Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are strengthening cooperation on air quality. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In Tashkent, delegations from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discussed issues of developing bilateral cooperation in environmental protection and air quality improvement. During the meeting, the parties discussed developing cooperation in air quality monitoring, exchanging scientific data, and implementing joint measures to reduce transboundary pollution.
Special attention was paid to the results of studying fine particles (PM2.5 and PM10) and the impact of atmospheric processes on the transport of pollutants between the border regions of the two countries.
After the negotiations, an agreement was reached to establish a joint working group with the participation of scientific communities from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Its activities will be aimed at conducting comprehensive research and developing practical solutions to improve air quality.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further developing the partnership and agreed to regularly hold joint practical activities aimed at reducing cross-border air pollution and improving the environmental situation in border areas.
