Finance Minister Madi Takiyev explained why customs service representative offices are being opened in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Today the Kurultai ratified the agreement on opening representative offices of the customs services of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The main purpose of the agreement is the prompt exchange of information and coordination of customs authorities' actions.
According to Finance Minister Madi Takiyev, customs representatives will work through embassies and assist businesses.
«For example, when the Tajikistan exhibition was held in Astana, goods transported through the territory of Uzbekistan needed to be processed. At that time, our representatives helped speed up this work. Similarly, when humanitarian aid is sent from our country to Afghanistan, our customs representatives participate in the rapid processing of documents. They can directly contact local customs authorities,» Takiyev said at today's Kurultai meeting.
It is worth noting that the agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was concluded on November 15, 2025, in Tashkent.
Meanwhile, the trade turnover between the two countries in the first 8 months of this year amounted to $3.7 billion, which is 29 percent more compared to the same period last year.
