Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Antonio Tajani held a telephone conversation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakh-Italian strategic cooperation, as well as interaction between the two countries in multilateral formats, including within the framework of the "C5-Italy" and "B5-Italy" dialogue platforms.
One of the main topics of the negotiations was the issue of energy security and ensuring stable and safe operation of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which is the main route for delivering Kazakh oil to international markets.
The parties noted the strategic importance of uninterrupted operation of the CPC pipeline for stable energy supply to Europe.
It is worth noting that the Caspian Pipeline Consortium pipeline transports 80% of oil exported by Kazakhstan.
