A roadmap for the implementation of the "Salaqatty Bolashaq" initiative aimed at protecting the health of residents in the Aral Sea region from environmental and climate threats has been presented. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova, the head of the World Health Organization's country office in Kazakhstan, representatives of government agencies and the akimat of Kyzylorda region.
"It is important for us to act proactively, without waiting for environmental factors to affect human health. We must identify threats earlier, prevent diseases and provide people with the necessary assistance in a timely manner," said Akmaral Alnazarova.
The roadmap envisages strengthening sanitary-epidemiological and medical monitoring, developing scientific research, and using digital technologies to analyze the impact of water and air quality, climate and other factors on public health.
Special attention is paid to children, pregnant women, the elderly and patients with chronic diseases.
This work unites the efforts of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan with the support of partners in the WHO and UN system. Environmental agencies, regions, the scientific community and international partners are also involved.
Kazakhstan is implementing measures to restore the ecosystems of the Aral Sea region, green the dried-up bottom of the Aral Sea and create protective forest plantations from saxaul.
According to the minister, the next stage is to strengthen the interconnection of environmental and medical data for preserving public health, disease prevention and making timely decisions.
