President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović adopted a joint statement and signed a number of documents. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The document states that on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations based on genuine friendship and mutual respect, the presidents reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening and diversifying bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.
The Montenegrin side highly appreciated Kazakhstan's consistent commitment to political transformation and economic modernization, carried out through comprehensive constitutional and institutional reforms aimed at strengthening effective governance and ensuring sustainable long-term development.
In turn, the Kazakh side highly appreciated Montenegro's progress in economic and social development, confirmed its support for Montenegro's efforts towards full membership in the European Union (EU), and expressed confidence that further advancement of reforms and strengthening of institutional capacity would contribute to the successful conclusion of EU accession negotiations.
The sides noted the significant potential of trade and economic cooperation and agreed to intensify joint actions to increase mutual trade volume and stimulate direct investments. They emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in key sectors, including energy, transport, logistics, and construction.
The sides also noted the potential of cooperation in digital development and artificial intelligence as a new direction of interaction. The presidents particularly highlighted Kazakhstan's key role in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and recognized its growing importance as a reliable and efficient corridor connecting Asia and Europe.
The sides agreed to promote bilateral cooperation in higher education, science, and research, as well as to explore opportunities for implementing joint academic and scientific initiatives, reaffirming their commitment to further developing cultural cooperation.
