Kazakhstan and the UAE have reached an agreement on mutual recognition of driver's licenses. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
The agreement was reached during a working visit of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates, namely to Abu Dhabi, at the invitation of the Arab side.
During the visit, Yerzhan Sadenov held negotiations with the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of the UAE, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The main result of the negotiations was the signing of a memorandum on mutual recognition of driver's licenses between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
The signing of the document is aimed at simplifying administrative procedures and creating additional conveniences for citizens of both countries. "About 400 thousand citizens of Kazakhstan travel to the United Arab Emirates every year. In addition, about 14 thousand Kazakh citizens permanently reside in the UAE. The signed memorandum will bring them benefits when using driver's licenses," the message says.
The memorandum provides for mutual recognition of national driver's licenses, as well as their exchange in a simplified manner in cases provided for by the document. The memorandum will enter into force after the parties complete the necessary domestic procedures.
The parties also discussed further development of bilateral cooperation in the fight against crime. In particular, issues of combating organized transnational crime, cybercrime and drug trafficking, search for criminals, operational exchange of information, introduction of modern technologies and personnel training were considered.
