Kazakhstan's national team has increased its gold medal count to 32 at the 6th World Nomad Games. The athletes won new awards on the sixth day of competition. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan.
On September 6, participants competed for medals in kokpar, kok-boru, toguz kumalak, mangala, and oware.
Competitions in intellectual sports began on the first day of the Games, and on September 6 the decisive stages took place. Kazakhstani athletes performed successfully in several disciplines.
"Competitions in intellectual sports started from the first day of the Games, and today the decisive stages took place. Representatives of Kazakhstan in toguz kumalak showed a high result, winning four gold and two silver medals. Kazakhstani athletes also performed successfully in mangala. Members of the national team won two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. Our athletes did not remain without awards in oware, a traditional intellectual game of the peoples of Africa," the statement said.
Only in toguz kumalak and mangala, Kazakhstani athletes won six gold, four silver, and one bronze medal.
In the final of the kok-boru competition, Kazakhstan met the Kyrgyzstan team. This sport is widespread in the host country of the Games and belongs to its traditional national disciplines.
The Kyrgyz team won the decisive match with a score of 12:0 and received gold medals. Kazakhstan finished the tournament with silver.
The national teams of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan also met in the final match in kokpar. The hosts of the competition again proved stronger.
The meeting ended with a score of 7:2 in favor of Kyrgyzstan. The Kazakh team won another silver medal.
