The Government of Kazakhstan has allocated 10.4 billion tenge from the reserve for the project to create a new KazSat-3R communications satellite. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov signed the corresponding resolution. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Cabinet, the new spacecraft is planned to replace the existing KazSat-3 satellite, whose service life expires in 2029. This will ensure the continuity of the national satellite network and strengthen the country's technological sovereignty.
Currently, the resources of the Kazakh KazSat system are used by 19 major domestic telecom operators, government agencies, and more than 2 million digital TV subscribers.
The government notes that over the past two years, the share of the population with access to high-speed internet in Kazakhstan has reached 99%, and satellite technologies remain a key tool for connecting remote villages to digital public services and the QazTech platform.
