47.7% of Kazakhstan's population engage in physical fitness and sports. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to a study conducted by the Bureau of National Statistics, in 2026, 47.7% of Kazakhstan's population aged three and older engage in physical fitness and sports.

Among them: - 19.2% exercise independently in their free time; - 28.1% participate in sports classes held in educational institutions; - 0.4% engage in sports professionally.

The level of physical fitness and sports participation among urban residents is slightly higher - 49.3%, while in rural areas this figure was 45.0%.

The highest proportion of those who independently engage in physical fitness and sports is among people aged 36-48 (28.4%).

In regional breakdown, the highest proportion of those aged 17-28 who independently engage in physical fitness and sports is observed in Mangystau, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, and Ulytau regions. Among those aged 36-48, the highest rates were recorded in Pavlodar, Zhambyl regions, and the city of Shymkent. Among those aged 58 and older, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay regions, and the city of Almaty lead.

By gender, the distribution among those who independently engage in physical exercises and sports is almost equal: 51.0% are men, 49.0% are women.

Among men, the highest proportion is in the 36-48 age group (14.4%), while among women, the 36-48 age group also leads (13.9%).
