9.4 million people are employed in various sectors of Kazakhstan's economy. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The Bureau of National Statistics published data on employment for Q2 2026. According to the survey, 7.3 million people are salaried employees, while 2.1 million are self-employed.

The largest share of employed people is in the following sectors:

  • 01trade – 16.8%;
  • 02education – 13.3%;
  • 03industry – 12.4%;
  • 04agriculture – 10.5%;
  • 05transport and warehousing – 7.1%;
  • 06construction – 6.8%;
  • 07healthcare and social services – 6.6%.

Growth in employment

Compared to Q2 2025, the number of employed people increased in several sectors. The highest growth was recorded in real estate operations – by 37 thousand people.

Also, the number of employed in education increased by 31.1 thousand people, in healthcare – by 21.2 thousand people. In addition, in arts, entertainment and recreation – by 15.1 thousand people, in professional, scientific and technical activities – by 7.7 thousand people, in finance and insurance – by 7.4 thousand people.
