Kazakhstan's national team won silver in the mixed team judo tournament at the 2026 Asian Games, losing to Japan 0:4 in the final. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
This medal became the seventh for Kazakh judokas at the current Games.
The final match
In the first bout of the final, Gusman Kyrgyzbayev (73 kg) faced Japan's Tatsuki Ishihara. The contest lasted the full four minutes, and Ishihara won thanks to a "yuko" score.
Then Azhar Askhat (70 kg) stepped onto the tatami against Utana Terada. The Japanese athlete finished the bout with an "ippon" in 3 minutes 7 seconds.
Aidar Arapov (90 kg) in the third bout received a "yuko" in his contest with Hidetoshi Tokumochi, but then our athlete received three "shido" penalties, and the "ippon" victory was awarded to the Japanese.
Fourth onto the tatami was Aida Toishybekova (+78 kg). Her opponent Miki Mukunoki won with an "ippon" in 33 seconds.

Thus, Kazakhstan's national team finished the judo tournament at the 2026 Asian Games with seven medals – five silver and two bronze. In the individual competitions, the Kazakhs won four silvers and two bronzes, after which they added the silver medal of the mixed team tournament.
Five more Kazakhs stopped one step short of the individual podium: Gusman Kyrgyzbayev, Meruert Sarsenova, Dana Abdirova, Marat Baikamurov and Aida Toishybekova took fifth places in their categories.
