Deputies of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan visited Brest on the eve of the 85th anniversary of the war's start. They were accompanied by delegations from the parliaments of seven countries. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The deputies laid flowers at the memorial to the defenders of the Brest Fortress and commemorated the fallen soldiers. Among them were many Kazakhstani soldiers. According to some data, their number exceeds one thousand. However, much less information confirmed by photographs and official documents has been preserved.

"Our mission here is to honor the heroes, many of whom did not return home. This war affected our country as well as others," noted deputy Sergei Ponomarev. Tonight at three o'clock, the sound of a metronome will be heard, and a memorial ceremony dedicated to the beginning of the war will take place.
