Kazakh schoolchildren have joined the seventh Arctic expedition 'Icebreaker of Knowledge'. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the state corporation Rosatom, the final selection process identified 27 winners from Russia and named the best participants of the international competition covering 22 countries. They will travel to the North Pole on the nuclear icebreaker *50 Let Pobedy* in August 2026.
Kazakhstan led in the number of applications, submitting 945 applications to participate in the expedition. About 5,000 applications from 22 countries were received for the international stage. As a result of the selection, 22 international finalists – one from each partner country – will join the winners of the Russian competition on the Arctic expedition. Participants include representatives from Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Brazil, Hungary, and other countries.
The project involves schoolchildren and students of secondary vocational education programs aged 14-16 from around the world. The best among them will embark on a scientific and educational expedition to the North Pole on the nuclear icebreaker *50 Let Pobedy*.
