The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MFA) has confirmed that it is aware of the disappearance of Kazakh citizen Asset Kuralbai in Chicago, USA. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The ministry stated that Kazakh diplomats are in contact with the competent US authorities and are clarifying the circumstances of the incident.
"Our Consulate General in New York is also in close contact with the citizen's relatives. The situation is under the control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the MFA said.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that information about the disappearance of 24-year-old Kazakh citizen Asset Kuralbai, who lives in Illinois, appeared on social media. According to published data, he lived in the Ford Heights area near Chicago.
Relatives reported that Kuralbai last made contact on June 2, and since June 7 his phone has been unavailable. His documents and bank cards remained at home, they said.
It was also reported that on June 10, police found the missing man's car — a Toyota Camry with license plate DP 86722. The whereabouts of Asset Kuralbai himself remain unknown.
The authors of the publication asked anyone with information about the man or who has seen him in recent days to contact relatives at +7-702-575-47-47.
