Kazakhstan is prioritizing the increase of agricultural productivity and technological modernization. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, one of the priority areas is further diversification of the structure of sown areas by increasing the share of high-yield crops.
Special attention to seed quality
The ministry noted that special attention is paid to the quality of seed material. This year, the share of elite seeds exceeded the planned 11.6% and reached 12%. Further increasing this indicator is considered one of the important factors in raising crop yields and their resistance to adverse conditions.
Volumes of mineral fertilizer application
Another important task is to increase the volumes of mineral fertilizer application. This year, farmers applied 2.2 million tons of mineral fertilizers. This constitutes 66% of the scientifically based need. As noted by the ministry, further increasing the volumes of fertilizer application will improve the efficiency of farming and enhance the productivity of agricultural lands.
Machinery renewal and water saving
Work continues to renew the machine and tractor fleet. This year, the level of machinery renewal reached 7%, and by the end of the year this indicator is planned to be brought to 8%. In addition, the scope of application of water-saving technologies will be expanded.
It was previously reported that the development of about 800 thousand hectares of previously unused agricultural land has begun.
