Since the beginning of the year, 26 new specialized departments with 403 beds have been opened in Kazakhstan as part of the renovation program for regional multidisciplinary hospitals. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The new facilities have been created in the most in-demand areas, the Ministry of Health reports. According to the ministry, the new departments operate in seven areas, including cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology and pulmonology, rheumatology, endocrinology, and hematology.
It is noted that these departments are designed to reduce the need for patients to travel to regional and republican centers for specialized medical care.
In particular, new departments have opened in the Aktobe, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, and Zhetysu regions.
"As part of the modernization program, the bed fund is being repurposed taking into account the real needs of the population," the statement says.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that simultaneously with this work, the organization of medical care is improving, telemedicine is developing, competence centers are emerging, and modern approaches to training and advanced training of medical workers are being introduced.
Recall that at the beginning of 2026, the Ministry of Health adopted a program for the renovation of regional hospitals, which is part of the "Concept for the Development of Healthcare Infrastructure for 2024–2030."
Kursiv wrote that by the end of 206, the country plans to re-equip 32 district clinics, raising them to the level of multidisciplinary central hospitals.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Health is preparing a new model of pediatric medical care - a hybrid one. In particular, it is planned that it will combine the work of pediatricians and general practitioners, while pediatric areas will be preserved.
