Kazakhstan plans to increase trade turnover with Afghanistan to $3 billion. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This was stated by Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Russia, Dauren Abayev, at a conference within the CSTO, CIS and SCO frameworks. Abayev noted that stability in Central Asia depends on the joint efforts of the region's countries.

According to him, the main threats in the region include terrorism, cross-border crime, cyberattacks and climate risks.

"Kazakhstan is interested in a peaceful, united and stable Afghanistan that has established friendly relations with its neighbors and actively participates in regional economic dialogue," said Dauren Abayev.

According to the ambassador, in the incomplete period of 2026, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan amounted to about $600 million. The parties aim to increase this figure to $3 billion.

Kazakhstan views Afghanistan as an important link in transport routes between Central and South Asia.

In June, Kazakhstan sent 320 tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. A medical mission was also organized after earthquakes in the east of the country.

Dauren Abayev noted that to combat cross-border threats, the region's countries must act jointly in ensuring security, addressing economic issues and providing humanitarian assistance.
