The National Assembly of Armenia has approved an agreement with Kazakhstan on the mutual provision of land plots for the construction of diplomatic mission buildings. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Newsarmenia.am.
According to the document, Armenia will transfer to Kazakhstan a plot of 0.33 hectares on Admiral Isakov Avenue in Yerevan. The land will be leased for 49 years at a symbolic rent of 1 dram per year.
In turn, Kazakhstan will allocate to Armenia a plot of the same area on Arganat Street in Astana. The lease term will also be 49 years, and the annual payment will be only 1 tenge.
As reported by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan, the recipient of the plot will not be able to dispose of it at their own discretion. Without the written consent of the host party, the following is prohibited:
- 01transferring ownership of the plot to third parties;
- 02pledging the plot;
- 03otherwise encumbering rights to the plot.
The agreement is aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries. The construction of new diplomatic missions will contribute to the development of political dialogue, expansion of business cooperation, and increased efficiency of embassy operations.
This format of mutual lease at a symbolic cost is widely used in international diplomatic practice and emphasizes the special status of diplomatic mission facilities.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a new airline from Armenia is entering the Kazakhstan market.
