President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Sihasak Puangketkeo. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Welcoming the guest, the head of state emphasized the importance of the visit for developing bilateral relations.

"Kazakhstan is interested in deepening mutual cooperation. Next year we will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries," Tokayev said.

The President noted the dynamic development of trade and economic ties, facilitated by a mutual visa-free regime, growth in tourism, and business contacts.

"Kazakhstan remains Thailand's largest trading partner in Central Asia, accounting for over 70% of total trade turnover with the region. Nevertheless, we believe we have enormous untapped potential," he stated.

Tokayev informed that 55 Thai companies are already operating in the Kazakh market and invited the large business delegation accompanying the minister to actively explore Kazakhstan's investment opportunities.

"We have sincere admiration for the economic achievements of your country. Today, Kazakhstan, as a middle power, plays an increasingly significant role on the world stage and is a key partner of Thailand in Central Asia. Our country is ready to serve as a bridge in developing cooperation with ASEAN countries," Puangketkeo responded.

Additionally, he announced that Thailand supported a number of Kazakhstan's international initiatives, including the opening of the UN ESCAP Asia-Pacific Center for Digital Solutions for Sustainable Development in Almaty and the establishment of an International Water Organization within the UN framework.
