Rescuers in the Karaganda region have extinguished a large steppe fire. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, dry vegetation caught fire in an open area 10 kilometers from the village of Tegisshildik in the Karkaralinsk district.

Thanks to prompt actions, the fire was completely extinguished. The area affected by the fire was about 3,000 hectares.

"About 120 people and 22 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in extinguishing the fire. Employees of local executive bodies and volunteer firefighting units 'Aul kutkarushylary' from the village of Besoba also participated," the Ministry reported.

According to the ministry, no information about casualties has been received. The causes of the fire are yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, in the Abai region, a large fire continues to be extinguished in the 'Semey Ormany' reserve, where people died from fire three years ago. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov sent two ministers to the scene: head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov and Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Yerlan Nysanbayev.

Earlier, Kazhydromet warned of high and extreme risk of natural fires in several regions of Kazakhstan.

Firefighting measures

MES specialists took all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the fire. Due to increasing winds, additional forces were deployed. Aviation equipment was also used in firefighting.

Preventive measures

Experts urge the public to follow fire safety rules. In steppe areas, lighting fires and burning dry grass is prohibited. Citizens are advised to take special precautions to prevent fires.
