A local state of emergency has been declared in the Karasay district of the Almaty region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

On July 2 at approximately 06:50, the bank of the Aksai River was washed away on the territory of Aksai Quarry LLP in the village of Zhanaturmys, Karasay district, causing a landslide in the northwestern part of the quarry. This was reported by the regional akimat.

To ensure safety, residents of 9 nearby private houses were temporarily relocated to a safe place. Engineering and restoration work is currently underway. A total of 19 employees and 14 pieces of equipment have been mobilized.

According to the akimat, due to the situation, a local state of emergency has been declared in the Karasay district. This decision allows for prompt and effective coordination of necessary work. The situation in other districts of the Almaty region remains stable.

The authorities urged residents to remain calm, follow the recommendations of authorized bodies, and trust only official sources of information.
