In Karaganda, the National Dombra Day was celebrated with great pomp. Hundreds of dombra players performed Kurmangazy's kui 'Adai' simultaneously. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The festive action 'Dombra – National Treasure' involved professional musicians, teachers, students, music school pupils, and amateur dombra enthusiasts. Among them was 13-year-old Zlata Taradina. The schoolgirl has been learning to play the dombra for five years.
'My parents suggested I attend a dombra club. Thanks to the leader of the 'Ata Tolgau' club, Bibigul Tileukhanova, I mastered several kuis. Now I participate in various competitions and win prizes. The dombra has become an integral and precious part of my life,' says the young dombra player.
The festive program opened with Kurmangazy's kui 'Balbyrauyn' performed by the Tattimbet Academic Orchestra of Kazakh Folk Instruments. The mass performance of the kui 'Adai' was the highlight of the evening. When hundreds of dombras sounded in unison, the square in front of the theater turned into a grand stage.
