A verdict has been handed down in the Karaganda region regarding the illegal extraction of minerals. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The regional specialized environmental prosecutor's office, during its oversight activities, uncovered facts of illegal mining. It was found that one of the enterprises in the region had been illegally mining iron ore without a license for four years and exporting it abroad. As a result, the state suffered damages exceeding 2 billion tenge.
Three suspects were taken into custody, and property worth over 360 million tenge was seized. In this criminal case, the prosecutor's office supported the state prosecution. Following the consideration by the Shet District Court of the Karaganda region, the three defendants were found guilty of illegal subsoil use and sentenced to various terms of imprisonment.
