Karaganda region has become the first in Kazakhstan to use a service robot dog equipped with artificial intelligence technologies to ensure public safety. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.

The modern development was tested in real conditions during festive events dedicated to Metallurgist Day and proved its high efficiency. On July 17–18, more than 115,000 people attended the festive events in the cities of Balkhash and Temirtau.

The main novelty of the events was a service robot dog equipped with an artificial intelligence system and fully integrated with police information databases. It can automatically recognize faces of people wanted or under police surveillance in real time. This allows for rapid identification of suspects and significantly increases the effectiveness of police response, the police said.

The new technology showed real results already during the first test. During service, four offenders were identified with the help of the robot dog. Among them were one citizen evading alimony payments, two debtors with debts to the state, and a previously convicted citizen who violated a court-imposed restriction and was outside his home. Appropriate measures were taken against all identified individuals in accordance with current legislation.

Police officers also paid special attention to children's safety. At festive venues where thousands of people gathered, 87 lost children were found in a short time, and all of them were safely returned to their parents. The age of the lost children ranged from 3 to 17 years, the report said.
