An investigation is underway in Karaganda after two workers died after descending into a well and being unable to get out. A special commission is investigating the circumstances of the tragedy. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to preliminary data, the deceased were employees of different construction organizations. The company that owns the well stated that they were unaware of any work being carried out at the site. It is not ruled out that dangerous gases may have accumulated at depth.
The Department of the State Labor Inspection Committee for the Karaganda region reported that they received notifications from employers about the accident.
"A commission for a special investigation of the accident has been created to establish the circumstances and causes of the incident," the department said.
According to preliminary information, an accident occurred. The deceased men were 59 and 63 years old.
On the same day, a similar incident occurred in Shakhtinsk. Two workers descended into a well on the territory of a store to clean it, after which they felt unwell, presumably due to exposure to dangerous fumes.
Both men were hospitalized. According to doctors, their condition is assessed as stable.
