A fire broke out in the wooden roof structures of a two-storey shop on Rechnaya Street in Karaganda. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that units of the Emergency Situations Department of the Karaganda Region worked at the scene. About 50 personnel and 13 units of fire equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

"As a result of the fire, over an area of 200 sq.m, burning of wooden inter-floor ceiling, furniture, inventory, thermal insulation material and external plastic cladding of the building occurred. In addition, due to the impact of high temperature, plastic cladding and furniture in an attached point were damaged," the Ministry of Emergency Situations statement says.

Emergency Situations Ministry employees removed two 50-litre gas cylinders from the building, preventing possible consequences.
