Starting September 2, 120 camera systems in the Karaganda region began recording not only speeding, but also drivers talking on mobile phones while driving and those not wearing seat belts. Fines will be issued automatically to violators.
According to the regional administration, using a phone while driving distracts the driver and increases the risk of an accident. The administration notes that at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour, five seconds of attention to the screen is equivalent to driving 100 meters "blind." Wearing a seat belt helps reduce the severity of injuries and other consequences in the event of an accident.
